Aion 2 Pet Chests: Mysterious, Genus, Growth & Soul Chests
AION 2 has three pet chests that roll whole pets — the Mysterious Pet Chest (any non-Special pet), Pet Chest: Fera / Natura / Varian / Cogni (one genus each) and the Growth Pet Chest — plus the Pet Soul Chest per genus, which is the only source of souls for 44 chest-only pets. Special pets never come from chests.
Pet chest types in AION 2
| Chest | What it can give | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mysterious Pet Chest | Any Fera, Natura, Varian or Cogni pet | The generic chest — widest pool, so hardest to target one pet |
| Pet Chest: Fera / Natura / Varian / Cogni | Pets of one genus | Use it when you only need pets from one genus for your build |
| Growth Pet Chest | Non-Special pets | Rolls alongside the Mysterious and genus chests |
| Pet Soul Chest: Fera / Natura / Varian / Cogni | Souls toward chest-only pets of that genus | The only source for the 44 pets below — they have no open-world monster |
Exact chest odds are not published. Chests come from shops, events, pass rewards and gameplay — check the in-game shop for the current rotation.

Pet chests vs farming: what each is good for
Every kill of a pet monster drops one guaranteed soul, so about 105 kills max a pet — slow but fully in your control. Chests shortcut that randomness only if you get lucky; nothing in a chest is promised. The proven route: unlock the first 5 souls of every monster you meet while questing (instant owned-effect stat gain), then decide which genus to push to Lv. 3 based on the pet tier list, and farm it in the densest zone — see the farming locations or let the planner pick for you.
Aion 2 pet chest FAQ
What is the Mysterious Pet Chest in Aion 2?
The Mysterious Pet Chest can roll any non-Special pet: Fera, Natura, Varian and Cogni. It is the generic chest; the genus Pet Chests narrow the pool to one genus, and Growth Pet Chests exist alongside them.
Can Special pets come from pet chests?
No. The 7 Special pets (Black Dragon, Swift Lugi and the rest) come from shops, passes and event chests only — they never roll out of the Mysterious, genus or Growth Pet Chests.
Which Aion 2 pets are chest-only?
44 of 207 pets have no open-world monster: their souls come from the Pet Soul Chest of their genus. The full list is on this page, grouped by genus.
Is farming still worth it if chests can drop any pet?
Yes. Chest rolls are random and odds are not published, while open-world souls are a guaranteed one soul per kill. Treat chests as a bonus, and farm the zones with dense pet monsters for steady progress.
