Aion 2 Pet Guide

Pets in AION 2 are mounts, collectibles and a permanent stat source at the same time. Here is how the whole system fits together.

1. Pet souls and unlocking

Every pet matches a monster. Defeating that monster drops its pet souls; 5 souls unlock the pet at Pet Insight Lv. 1, 25 more raise it to Lv. 2 and 75 more to Lv. 3: 105 souls in total. Community datamines list each soul drop at 100% per kill, one soul at a time, so expect about 5 kills to unlock a pet and about 105 to max it. If a kill gives nothing, check the soul counter in the pet tooltip. Some pets don't drop in the open world and come from Pet Soul Chests instead.

2. What each Pet Insight level unlocks

LevelUnlocks
Lv. 1Ride the pet as a mount + first owned effect
Lv. 2Glide on the pet + second owned effect
Lv. 3Pet Transformation + full owned effect

The exact owned effects depend on the pet's genus: see genus bonuses.

3. Owned effects stack

Owned effects stay active whether or not the pet is equipped, and they add up across your whole collection. That is why players say "collect wide": ten easy pets at Lv. 3 beat one rare pet. Use the tracker & calculator to see your totals.

4. Genus Insight

Collecting souls also earns soul crystals. Spend crystals and Kinah to analyze a genus, which rolls random passive stats into that genus's slots. Every analysis also gives Genus Insight experience, and each genus caps at level 10; higher levels improve the odds of rarer, stronger rolls.

Owned-effect numbers on this site are the in-game tooltip values. Datamined tables sometimes show raw values 100ร— larger (Stamina 900 instead of +9, sprint reduction 30 instead of 0.3%).

5. Pet Transformation

Equip a pet that has reached Pet Insight Lv. 3 and use an Empathy Candy to transform into it for 5 minutes. You can still use skills but cannot mount; cancel the transformation before switching pets. Most pets keep normal size, some make you bigger (up to 190% with Skyray) or smaller (down to 70%). The 7 Special pets cannot transform. Empathy Candy comes from the Festival Shop (20 Centuryroot Token) and Pet Collection Status rewards.

6. Fast progression checklist

  1. Always collect the first 5 souls of every new pet you meet.
  2. Farm dense pet zones like Verteron while doing quests.
  3. Combine enemy-faction pets with Spacetime Rift runs.
  4. Kill side elites in expeditions for dungeon-only pets.
  5. Check the Black Cloud Merchant rotation for hard pets.
  6. Collect milestones: unique species unlock collection rewards.
